About Me!

Hi There! I'm Mrs. Briggs.

I am so excited to begin this school year and meet my new group of 4th graders at EverGreen Academy in Elmwood Park, Wisconsin.
EverGreen is truly a GREAT school: small class sizes, well-rounded curriculum, and a variety of after-school clubs to choose from. The PTO is very committed to supporting the EverGreen community (& I'm not just saying that because I was the Secretary!) I am proud to be teaching there!

I believe that each and every child has the potential to be a super student. By working together, parents and teachers can help students flourish and grow.

When I am not teaching my students, I am coaching EverGreen's Battle of the Books teams. It is fun and exciting to see the students read so many books. The average student will read about 30+ books! We review the books and authors and practice in a quiz show format. You may recognize me at our PTO meetings; I was the Secretary once and enjoy being a member now! Our PTO is very involved in supporting our wonderful school! I also mentor our Student Council. It is a wonderful experience to assist these students who truly love their school!

Away from school, I am very busy with my family that includes 3 children who are 13, 7, and 6. For a few years, I taught my church's young girls' group. I taught them all sorts of faith-based and character-building lessons. We also did arts and crafts, went on amazing field trips, and had guests speakers come in. I was with these wonderful girls from the time they turned 8 until their 12th birthday. It was an amazing experience! Now, my husband and I are Cub Scout Leaders for a great little pack that also includes a few EverGreen students!

I am originally from New Jersey. I graduated from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science (now Philadelphia University) with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing with a minor in MIS. For several years, I worked in various areas of IT and executive management. I have worked in higher education, staffing & human resources organizations, and behavioral healthcare. Throughout my entire professional life, I have spent some portion of my career teaching students of all ages. A few years ago, I finally made the decision to follow my life-long dream to teach children. It has been the most fulfilling experience I have ever had. My dreams have come true and teaching at EverGreen has blessed not just my life, but that of my entire family. I am fortunate enough to teach at the same school that all 3 of my children attend! I am also constantly enriching my teaching knowledge by attending undergraduate and graduate-level courses.

My family and I really enjoy being together and traveling to visit our family back east. When I do find some spare time, I blog over at MarikaReinvented.com and chronicle our family's adventures and activities. We also have a family business that has been great, too!

Please don't hesitate to drop me a line or two!
