Take a Tour of the United States!

Tour-The-States
One of the Social Studies goals for 4th graders is that they learn how to spell and locate each of the 50 states. Here is one fun way that we have been using to help us study: (scroll down for the video!)

Tour-The-States

Tour the States

                                      Renald Francouer

Chorus:
I want to take a little trip somewhere—yeah
Places I’ve never been—yeah
Going on tour without a care
I want to take a little trip somewhere—yeah
Places I’ve never been—yeah
Going on tour, tour, tour, tour
First, I’m gonna see Nashville, Tennessee
Then Madison, Wisconsin, is where I gotta be—yeah
Then I’ll take a plane
Well actually, I’m afraid to fly, so I think I’ll take the train
Let’s go!

Going to Trenton, New Jersey; Frankfurt, Kentucky
Maybe take a trip to Jackson, Mississippi
Let’s see what they can show me in Jefferson City, Missouri
Santa Fe, New Mexico; Denver, Colorado
Boise, Idaho, I love it every time that I go
In 1492, he sailed the ocean blue, but next week I’ll see Columbus in Ohio
Grab a little sunshine in Tallahassee, Florida
Take a bite of a peach in Atlanta, Georgia
I’ve never been to Carson City, in Nevada, or Lincoln, Nebraska
You can catch me in Phoenix, Arizona, or Sacramento, California—yeah
St. Paul, Minnesota, maybe Juneau, Alaska—yeah
Chorus
Boston, Massachusetts; Concord, New Hampshire
Going to Vermont for Montpelier
Montgomery, Alabama, then Washington D.C. to see the nation’s capital
Aloha to Honolulu, Hawaii
Des Moines, Iowa, so peaceful to me
Going to Springfield, Illinois, to build a little house on a prairie
In Little Rock, Arkansas, I love what I saw
Going back to Dover, Delaware, ‘cause I want more
Indianapolis, Indiana, and Hartford, Connecticut, need an encore
Smelling pine trees in Augusta, Maine
I like Topeka, Kansas, I’m glad that I came
But I’ve never been to Salt Lake City, in Utah, or Richmond, Virginia
Going to see Bismarck, North Dakota, and Charleston, West Virginia—yeah
Annapolis, Maryland, maybe Lansing, Michigan—yeah
Helena, Montana; Columbia, South Carolina, got to go to Pierre, South Dakota
Yeah—follow if you wanna
I’ll be eating a banana in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Schedule that on my planner
Friends say I gotta come sooner to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, so I guess I’m gonna
But first I’m going to Cheyenne, Wyoming, then party in Raleigh, North Carolina
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, can’t think of a rhyme for Pennsylvania, so I’m skipping
to Salem, Oregon
Then Austin, Texas, and then maybe Albany, New York, for breakfast
Providence, Rhode Island, was a blast and Olympia, Washington, was just the best-est
Chorus x 4

Videochat Fun!

When 4th grade started school today, they were in for quite a surprise!
-- a videochat from South Korea

One of our classmates is in South Korea and we were able to make a video call to her! It was a great surprise! We all were able to see her and she could see us as we chatted about her adventure. Each and every one of us was able to ask her a question. She also showed us around her space and a family friend answered one of our questions. We learned so much in our video call!

Day at the Museum!

We are going to the Milwaukee Public Museum!

On Thursday, March 9th, we will go to the Milwaukee Public Museum. We are looking forward to seeing and learning a lot at the museum!
Admission is $5 and a permission slip went home on Wednesday. We would love to have 4 chaperones! The permission slip is due back on Friday!
Students will need to wear their green EverGreen Field Trip Polo shirt with uniform pants or jeans and comfy waking shoes. They do not need to bring backpacks, but will need to bring their own lunch in a brown paper or plastic bag.

Our visit to the museum will include a scavenger hunt as a fun way to explore the museum!

We will have so much discuss in our Science and Social Studies classes in the days and weeks to follow our visit tot he museum. I see a research project in our future! :)

EverGreen Day @ The Movies

Today was the day! Our entire school, 4k-8th grade boarded our buses and spent the morning at the movies!

In 4th grade, we prepared by making Lego creations before we departed school. We will be using these very same Legos to help us further understand how to make fractions!

The Batman Lego Movie was actually educational for us. From a literary point-of-view, the movie helped us see the parts of a story. We have just begun studying these parts; genre, main characters, setting, theme, plot, conflict, climax, and resolution. This afternoon, after returning from our movie, we made "cootie catchers" using our parts of a story vocabulary. We discussed each part comparing and contrasting it to our Teacher Read Aloud book, The 14th Goldfish and The Batman Lego Movie.

Thank you to our chaperones!
