Cameras are ok, but students are responsible for carrying them and keeping them

Kids will be able to call home at bedtime!

If your child takes medication before, during, or after school, you MUST contact the office PRIOR by Fri., 4/14!

Are there souveniers? Yes! Should your student bring money, it is their responsibility.

Creativity at its Finest!

The results are in! 

Today, Mr. Briggs visited our class to help us design our own 4th-grade logo. The logo will eventually be put on our Camp Timber-Lee sweatshirts! *If your student is going to camp, it was included in the price. If your student is not going but would like to order a class sweatshirt with their name on the back, let me know via email. It is  $15)

This afternoon, Mr. Briggs met with those students who were interested in designing a logo. We found other logos and pictures for inspiration and let our creativity do the best. There were over 10 designs to choose from and everyone worked so hard on their design! After a short presentation, we voted anonymously.

Why do we use this symbol and why do we use it on Thursdays only?
After an interesting and exciting application and interview process this summer, I was fortunate enough to be selected as the only 4th grade teacher in Racine, Wisconsin to join Bedtime Math's Crazy 8s Math Club!

What is Bedtime Math and what is their Crazy 8s Math Club? Bedtime Math's mission is "to help kids love numbers so they can handle the math in real life." On their website, they have activities for families, educators, and students.

Every Thursday is our Crazy 8s Top Secret Math Club. Calling it Top Secret adds to the fun! Here are some pictures of all the ways we have been able to explore math concepts while having a great time:

You mustn't be late for a very important date!
Every day of school is important!
Sometimes we run late and when that happens, please note our school policy:

The Late "Bell" rings at 8:05 AM. If your student is not with his or her class by 8:05, he or she is late.

Late students must be physically signed in by a parent or guardian in the school.

Please do not drop your student off in the parking lot and drive away. We have no way of knowing that your student is dropped off and is out there.

If we are at Morning Meeting across the street, please make sure that you sign in with either Coach Hearn or Mrs. Morgan. They are always stationed just inside the doors or near the parking lot.

If you see that our class has already completed Morning Meeting and are heading back to our building, please do not send your student to "run for it" to catch up with us. Our intersection is very, very busy and I have accounted for all of the students that I must cross. Other teachers have as well. For safety's sake, if you see our class walking between buildings, please take your student to the rear entrance and sign him or her in.

Summer School Information

Spring into Summer!

It is never too soon to talk about enriching and fortifying our skills! RUSD Summer School information is available for students in 4K-7th grade. These subjects are covered: ELA (Language Arts), Math, Science, Social Studies, STEM, foreign language, and the arts…depending on what location you attend. 

Important Info: 

• Register by May 31
• Do not need to be referred by teacher, but I can give you information to help you make the decision
• Locations are McKinley and Starbuck (Middle School) Fratt, Gifford, Julian Thomas, Knapp, Olympia Brown, Roosevelt, S.C. Johnson, Schulte, Wadewitz (Elementary)
• Breakfast and lunch are provided for free
• Summer School courses are free
• RUSD does NOT provide transportation
• Hours are 7:45 am-1:30 pm
• Registration is done online

Take a Tour of the United States!
